I am currently doing a 3 year long streaming challenge to break the Rocket League Streamer record; which is currently set at 2 years by Widow! Everyday I put a button in a bowl to symbolize another day completed in the challenge, come catch me at 2pm EST and watch the bowl fill up!

Rocket League Backstory

My story started in 2015 when I had first played Rocket League on my friend's PS4. I loved the game so much that In 2016 I asked my parents for my own PS4 for Christmas, along with guess which game... Rocket League! I then played on Playstation a lot; I especially enjoyed playing Snowday in the early years of the game, amassing upwards of 600+ games of it played in 2016 seasons. In 2016 I also got into the RL Esports scene (with the pioneers of the game such as Rizzo and Kronovi really drawing me in) from there I got hooked on the Esport for the rest of time!

In 2017 I ended up getting a PC and that's where the fun really started. I instantly downloaded the game on Steam and started getting into trading as well. Some of my fondest memories in 2017 were trading my inventory up to $1k+ real money value at the time, and the use of trade bot websites. (Those were fun, Psyonix, please allow them again).

After getting my PC I made some of my best friends, that I still play with in-game today. Through the next few years I ended up getting more and more into the content creation side of the game (read below article for more info on that), I kept up with the Esport, continued playing Snowday and ventured into more modes during the next few years from 2017- 2022... as well as getting scammed out of that inventory that I talked about. (I was dumb back then lol). I continued making friends in the game and having the time of my life and believing in the dream of becoming a Rocket league content creator.

In 2022-2023 I finally ended up streaming Rocket League every day and grinding every day to grow even deeper into the scene. It's surreal writing this right now as the dreams are a reality. Someone go tell 2016 Jagentek this would be the case he would have cried and probably not believed it, hah. Anyways Here's to more and hopefully adding to this in the future!

Content Creation Backstory

Now, I've told you about the Rocket League side of everything, but what about the content creation side? Well, let me tell you, it was not easy and it was quite a journey. My fascination with content creation started young; going back to about 2012-2013 when my friend first showed me Jacksepticeye on YouTube. I was instantly hooked and knew that doing what he was doing was what I wanted to do when I got older, and I started early trying to make that vision a reality.

When I was in 6th grade I started a YouTube channel with my friend and we called it “Skillfactor”. We made a few videos, they were about what you'd expect from 6th graders, nothing too great. Though after a few videos I could tell my friend's passions were not the same as mine, and so I set out with the rebrand “Johndot.” as the 2nd draft of my channel.

I had been really into Madden Mobile and it's community at the time so I started making Madden Mobile videos for quite a while, still not great but improved from the Skillfactor era of videos. I learned a lot during this time as I got deep into the Madden community, talking to some of the biggest Madden and Madden Mobile creators at the time, MMG and Duckythegamer may ring a bell with some people. In this time I had really learned how to be a part of a game community and it helped me with other life lessons as well. I had taken away knowledge but the YouTube channel itself still didn't see much growth compared to the people I was surrounded by.

I started to get into making Omegle videos, and learned I really just enjoyed talking and interacting with people, so it was a perfect environment and fun to me. This was also around the time I had gotten my PC, which definitely helped with editing and improving the quality of videos. Some of the Omegle videos gained a small following, juicing me up to about 350 subscribers (which you're probably thinking "wow that's nothing" but when you were as passionate as I was, it didn't matter, I just loved doing it, and still do to this day).

During all this time I had been watching and playing Rocket League and after doing Omegle videos for quite a long while, I decided it was time for a full overhaul. So, in 2021-2022 I had made the decision to slowly make my way into Rocket League content using the skills I had learned throughout the years. I started slowly by making connections and really taking stuff more seriously. I got on Twitter and made a few friends, but nothing significant.

I continued to make Rocket League videos for a year or so, focusing on improving them, and I'd say that looking back- I did actually do that. I started scripting some, writing ideas out, and just getting more professional in general. Yet the YouTube channel wasn't growing. So youre probably wondering "this guy's been doing this for YEARS and has basically no success, what happens next?" and the answer? Internet. I always knew if I could stream, I'd have a better understanding of what to do in order to succeed compared to YouTube, so why didn't I? Well, it's because I had a .5 upload speed at my old place where I lived.

I ended up moving in 2022 and my world opened up completely. I started streaming on Twitch, on March 16th 2022, announcing I'd be doing a one year streaming challenge, while also using the community interaction I used all those years ago In Madden to make some friends and connections, to prove how serious I was about this. I had been out of school at this point (I skipped the chance to go to college to do this) and directed all my focus on doing everything I could to finally make 12 year old Jagentek's dream a reality. And well, we did it, man. Watching Jack on your iPad all those years ago, and being inspired to be a full-time video game creator. It happened. With 5000+ people and followers later. It happened.
